Chief campers (grades 7-9) may choose to participate in the Spirit of America Boater Safety Course to learn safe boating skills in several different types and sizes of watercraft, including canoes, kayaks, sailboats, jon boats, motor boats and jet skis. Spirit of America provides an ideal environment for the students to learn, react and develop lifelong boating skills. It is designed to empower campers to develop self esteem, teamwork, safe seamanship and responsible behavior while learning how to boat skillfully, safely and joyfully. Due to Camp Widjiwagan's partnership with TWRA, campers who successfully complete the course will have the opportunity to earn their Tennessee boater license.
