CREW (10th-11th Graders)

CREW is a leadership development program for rising 10th and 11th graders. This specialty program's goal is to develop leadership skills that young people can use throughout their lives to identify and achieve goals. In addition, the program helps young people learn to effectively lead children in both a day and overnight camp settings. This program is a great resume builder for college and scholarship applications.

CREW members for both day and overnight camp will participate in a variety of camp activities including trainings and hand-on experiences that will help them develop their leadership skills. Some of the leadership skills the program focuses on include goal setting, teamwork, responsibility and communication. These skills are developed through role modeling, activities, discussions, journals and mentoring. CREW overnight members will learn the 'ins and outs' of camp life by living in a cabin with a group of campers and using their leadership skills in a supportive role to the camp counselors. CREW is offered during all sessions for both day and overnight camp. The CREW program fee is the same as the regular camper fees.

CREW Service Program (Offered only to rising 12th graders who have participated in CREW)

CREW participants can take their leadership development to the next level by volunteering service hours at Camp Widjiwagan. By participating in service activities, CREW members can get a leg up on the competition and the college prep process by gaining real-world experience. Volunteering can also improve their skill sets and help prepare them for work experiences. CREW Service volunteers will work in a support role to the camp and gain experience by working in the office, helping at a variety of program areas, leading small group games and songs for children and assisting with camp store. The CREW volunteer service program is offered only for day camp hours. Volunteers must complete an application, interview, reference check and training session. Each volunteer must commit at least 10 days to camp over the season or a two week session. Bus transportation is available at certain bus sites.

Participation in CREW or CREW Service programs does not guarantee a staff position in the future.
